Coming Soon to Picks Our first batch has been made, tested, and released by the manufacturer. BetterBrain Creatine will be available to order here soon. Why BetterBrain Made This Creatine monohydrate is the most studied form of creatine, so what sets one product apart is how the ingredient is made and how carefully it is tested. We chose Pürest Creatine™ from NNB Nutrition for its documented purity standard and its defined controls on manufacturing by-products: its specification requires at least 99.99% purity, with dicyandiamide, dihydrotriazine, and cyanide not detected and creatinine at 30 mg/kg or less. The finished powder is made under current Good Manufacturing Practices, and every lot is tested twice, first as the ingredient and again as the finished product. That is what "Tested. Trusted. Better." on the pouch stands for. One unflavored scoop gives you 5 g of creatine, the most-studied daily dose, and the 60-serving pouch lasts two months at 1 scoop a day or one month at 2. It comes in a stand-up pouch instead of a rigid tub, so it uses less plastic, takes up less space, and is easier to take with you. How To Use It DOSE: 5 g a day is the minimum. Rule of thumb: 1 scoop (5 g) a day if you weigh up to about 135 lb (61 kg), and 2 scoops (10 g) a day if you weigh more. To go higher, stay at or under 30 g a day or 0.3 g per kg of body weight (about 0.14 g per lb), whichever is higher, split into doses of 5 to 10 g through the day. No loading phase and no cycling.TIMING: Any time of day, with or without food. Stir each scoop into 8 fl oz of water or any drink. Consistency matters more than timing.PAIRING: Resistance training. Creatine plus strength work is where the evidence is strongest. Drink fluids through the day.EXPECT: Taken daily, creatine builds up in muscle over about 3 to 4 weeks. You may gain 2 to 4 lb (1 to 2 kg) on the scale at the start, which is water held in muscle, not fat. Strength gains build with training over weeks to months. Research on memory and thinking shows small or mixed effects, so don't expect a change you can feel from week to week. At 2 scoops a day a pouch lasts a month, so choose a monthly subscription. It is important to discuss this plan with your doctor to ensure it is safe and appropriate for you. The Science Behind It WHAT IT IS: Creatine is a compound your body makes and also gets from meat and fish. It is stored mostly in muscle, with smaller amounts in the brain, where it helps cells quickly recycle ATP, the molecule that powers cell work. The brain uses about 20% of the body's energy while making up about 2% of body weight, which is why researchers study creatine for the brain as well as for muscle.THE SCIENCE: The strongest evidence is for strength. In a 12-week randomized trial, older women who took 5 g a day during resistance training showed greater gains in strength, lean mass, and functional performance than the placebo group (Aguiar, 2013). Research on memory and thinking is newer and mixed. A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis found a small benefit for memory, with less consistent results for attention and processing speed. In a large crossover trial, 5 g a day for six weeks showed a possible small benefit that did not reach statistical significance (Sandkühler, 2023). Some positive studies used special conditions, such as a single large dose during sleep deprivation (Gordji-Nejad, 2024), which don't translate to everyday use. Creatine is not a treatment for any disease, and these studies did not test this specific product.IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU? It is a strong fit if you have a strength, muscle, or exercise-performance goal, at any age. It also fits if you are over 50, if you eat a vegetarian or vegan diet (creatine comes mainly from meat and fish, so stores tend to be lower), or if long-term brain health is one of your goals, knowing that cognitive results vary. No lab test is needed to start. Talk with your doctor first if you have kidney disease, and with your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Watch Out If you are pregnant, nursing, or taking medication, consult your healthcare provider before use. There is no human safety data for creatine in pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you have kidney disease, talk with your doctor before taking creatine. Creatine raises creatinine on a blood test slightly. That is not kidney damage. If a creatinine result matters, stop creatine 3 weeks before the test and tell your provider you take it. You may see 2 to 4 lb (1 to 2 kg) of water weight at the start or at higher doses. Too much at once can cause stomach upset, bloating, or loose stools. Split larger amounts through the day. *These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
